I think the idea of a monthly fee, despite "Weeding out bad apples" it would weed out more "good apples" who cant afford to play or are more inclined to pay for another game then GW, then it would "Bad" players.

However, back to the question at hand ... is it worth the money? In my opinion yes. I was very skeptical at first. Didn't play any demos but heard from members of my Sacred gaming clan about this game. watched the reviews when it came out. I bit the bullet last thursday and have played all weekend. Started four different characters and have been schemeing while at work how I can get more play time in. So, in the end it may not be worth the US$50 I paid after I loose my job. YL |

Well, since I am one of the many who is experiencing intermittant system crashes with GW, I wouldn't recommend purchasing it until those issues are resolved.
It is quite good, though, for the 5-50 minutes of gameplay.... |

Not always....

Well this is true, but not all the time. The community in WoW is by FAR the worst I have ever encountered in my life. The forums are a coalation on mindless dribble that never ends. Everyone is always complaining it seems, rather than playing the game. I played WoW since release and only found a few people who don't act like 10 year olds. On that note, I'm very glad that this game requires strategy. hopefully making a hard time for the immature ones who've bought the game, so maybe they'll quit. I do think that this game is not aimed for young kids, not that im saying that all are immature, just quite a few I've met. From what I've seen Guild Wars has a good community, but whose to say that it won't go down the toilet in a few months, when the price of the game drops to $29.99. EQ2 I beleive is aimed at an older audience. It also requires a significant time investment... Most "bad apples" don't want to spent 400 hours maxing their char, so they can greif. Greifers in GW, from what I've seen have only been spammers in the trade channel. But greifing in this game is limited due to game dynamics. |

I, for one, can shell out $15 a month to play this game with no problem, however, I KNOW the VALUE of a dollor and I dont' take lightly to having to pay for games. That is absolutely ridiculous. I admin, I have played pay to play games ever since EQ1 and I still am paying for a few, but now that guild wars has arrived it has shown that quality game that can be produced without montly fees and I am dropping my subscriptions to the other pay to play games. No montly fee is the way to go. If you are worried about teenage punks coming and ruining the game you have bigger issues to worry about. When you hit the 'N' button in guild wars it brings up a list where you can add friends and a list where you can add people to ignore. When that teenage punk starts bothering you, use that list and add his name to it. I can gaurantee that he wont bother you again! Just my two cents... ~Zintinix |

Imo, after playing the game for a couple days it is definetly worth the price. Already had a ton of fun rolling around with some friends exploring, questing, and killing stuff and have only explored a tiny bit of the massive map.
As a veteran MMO player (swg,PS, WOW, MxO, etc) this game has exactly what I was looking for. Specifically no monthly fees, elimination of needless travel, and no endless grind to some insane level. I like to just jump on and play and this game allows that. The henchmen are sweet for soloing and I run the game at highest settings with no lag. I am loving it so far and am looking forward to exploring more of the world! If anybody wants to meet up my ingame name is Mordread. Props to the dev team for giving players what they want! Heres hoping they listen to feedback now that we are in release as well. |

Hello all
I like the game its worth the price one thing I hope they fix is the constant spammers in the chat window selling things they should find a way to force the spammers who are selling into the trade window. |

Well I bought the collectors edition of WoW the day the game went retail, and just bought GW yesterday, so all I can really say is that compared to WOW so far there are things I like more about one, and more about the other
One of WoW's strongest points is its community, roughly half a million active players, the pvp combat is just insane The main reason I picked up GW was because futureshop had it for 40$, and thats as much as it costs me to play WoW for two months, so, I guess I will still find out which is more worth the $$ |

Yup
From what I've seen so far graphics wise and with no extra fee it is worth it easy. Of course 45 euros is a little high but EQ or WoW, are gonna cost much more in the long run.
